Understanding Watermarking in VIDIZMO
Watermarking in VIDIZMO allows you to add meaningful or contextual information to your Portal content without changing the original files. You can fully customize how watermarks are applied by adjusting settings like placement, transparency, and resizing.
Additionally, VIDIZMO offers the creation of watermark templates that can be configured to apply watermarks to videos, images, and documents during encoding and download. These templates streamline the watermarking process, eliminating the need to recreate watermarks repeatedly.
VIDIZMO also lets you enhance watermarks by adding content attributes such as the Title, Added Date, or Author Name. These attributes can render information in the watermarks, providing meaningful context about your Portal content.
Users with Portal Management and Watermarking features can configure watermarking settings on the Portal.
Watermark Templates
Watermark templates are specific to each content type or format. You can create distinct templates for images, videos, and documents, ensuring that each format is appropriately watermarked according to your configured template.
Watermark templates can also be classified according to the following:
- Encoding Type: Applies watermark on the content during the transcoding activity.
- Export Type: Applies watermark on the content during the download or export process.
Note: Encoding watermark templates only work when VIDIZMO is configured as your encoding provider.

Transcoding and Renditions
Transcoding creates renditions of your content for various purposes such as compatibility and to give users a low quality alternative in low-latency situations. If watermarking is enabled, a specific rendition is created for watermark application, and this happens even if automatic transcoding is turned off. In addition, watermarks are applied to your content whenever a transcoding activity is finished.
VIDIZMO ensures the original file remains untampered by creating a copy (rendition) for watermarking operations. This approach maintains the integrity and originality of the original uploaded content.
Note: Whenever a watermark rendition is created, corresponding transcoding charges will apply.
Custom Watermark Settings
In addition to watermark templates, VIDIZMO allows users to apply watermarks with custom settings. This enables users to design and apply watermarks according to their preferences only during the download or export process. Portal Managers can decide the level of customization that the users can have when they are applying watermark to content during download.
Watermarking Dimensions and Scaling
When creating a watermark template, use the preview feature to estimate how the watermark will appear on your content. While the preview provides a general idea, actual results may vary based on the content's dimensions and the watermark's size, especially for image-based watermarks. For this, VIDIZMO gives you the option to adjust the size or dimensions of the image you have used as your watermark to ensure optimal placement and visibility.
Watermarking Variables
Watermark templates can incorporate variables that dynamically render content-specific information from VIDIZMO. These variables can automatically display information related to your content and eliminate any need for manual updates. This ensures that the watermark accurately reflects the information related to associated content.
You can utilize these variables when creating a custom watermark during download or when creating a watermark template. Variables are only available when you have a text field in your watermarking options, this means that you can enhance the information to display in your watermarks if you are creating a text-based watermark template.
Typing an exclamation mark !
in the text field opens a dropdown menu with all custom attributes that you can use. The variables in the dropdown are also displayed according to the content you are watermarking. For instance, the variable list for images may include Image Description
, or JFIF version
, while for videos the list may include Duration
or FrameRate
.
Here is a table that displays common variables and their description.
